The recall involves certain 2001-02 Honda Accords, 2001 Civics and 2002-03 Acura TLs, the company announced Friday in a news release. Honda said the recall was necessitated by defective driver-side airbag inflators that can over-pressurize the bag, causing it to burst. Fragments of metal could potentially go through the material surrounding the airbag, injuring or killing the driver. Registered owners of vehicles with potential defective airbags will receive a written notice within the next few months, Honda said.
