Taiwan sells 294-day T-bills at 0.399 percent yield
Reuters - 1 hour 35 minutes ago
TAIPEI, Jan 21 - Taiwan auctioned T$35 billion ($1 billion) 294-day treasury bills at a yield of 0.399 percent, the central bank said on Wednesday, matching market expectations.
A Reuters poll of bond dealers had expected the yield to be between 0.35 percent and 0.45 percent.
This is the second time that the government has held an auction outside of its regular auctions planned for this year as it needed more short-term funds for the state treasury. Last week, Taiwan conducted another additional auction to sell off 273-day treasury bills at 0.405 percent.
The government said late last year Taiwan planned to auction T$60 billion T-bills in the first quarter, as part of its aim to sell over T$200 billion of the short-term paper in regularly scheduled auctions this year.
