Lexington, KY (AHN) - Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear is raising his state's death toll to 24 from the severe storm that recently pummeled several states throughout the Midwest. The brings the total number of fatalities to at least 55 people.
Although the governor's office isn't releasing details on each individual's death, in a letter to President Barack Obama released Monday,
Beshear explains that 10 of the deaths were from carbon monoxide poisoning and at least nine were from hypothermia.
The governor's office has appealed to President Obama for federal assistance in helping the state recover from the damage wrought by the storm.
