Sadly, the masses were more intrigue with his identity as Jackie Chan's son that little attention was paid to his music. Four years later, Jaycee reintroduces himself in the second album with the help of the Singapore talents Eric Ng and Xiao Han. Eric & Xiaohan on JayceeXiaohan shares, "Jaycee is really gifted with lyrics. His thoughts are very different from others, and he is always able to come up with unique materials." Xiaohan also took the chance to promote Jaycee's album by keeping mum about the surprises in it to keep people in anticipation. Jaycee in turn gave a thumbs-up to thank her for the advertising. Eric sees Jaycee as a playful and lazy boy but reiterates that that's the way musicians are; only at work will you see the dedication. While Jaycee definitely has a better head start in life than most people of his age, he remains humble when it comes to music. As for whether Jaycee is really cut out for singing, Eric gives it a thought and analyzes, "Frankly speaking, he does not have very good techniques. However, he can compose, act and even dance a little. These are all little attributes that value-add to his package. In a way, that's what people are looking for these days." Records are hard to sell these days, but the idea of Jaycee releasing an album is quite an attraction by itself. Eric and Xiao Han are not all that concern about the sales though; to them, the whole experience is more like jamming with a fellow musician and there is little stress to it. Celebrities' sonBeing the son of action star Jackie Chan and famous actress Lin Feng Jiao, Jaycee actually asked for little pointers from his parents. In his words, "It is like digging my own grave." Jaycee recalls that his father seldom compliments him in his work. One such rare occasion was for his performance in "The Sun Also Rises". "It was probably something he didn't really understand," Jaycee explains. And that is the reason for Jaycee's request to add elements which his father does not understand in the album; maybe this way, he will get complimented again. As the name "Jaycee" suggestsIt's no secret that Jaycee is born with a silver spoon, neither does he denies it. Having the luxury of working with his mentor Jonathan Lee on his first album, and Eric and Xiao Han for his second, Jaycee reveals that he has learnt a great deal. He does, however, feel at times that people are giving in to him because of his family background. Jaycee takes a glance at his new mentors and says cheekily, "I know they are not like that though, I believe the see me as quite a nice chap." So does Jaycee plans to be a music producer in the future? "It's not up to me to decide if I am worthy of the title. I'll just have to do my part, keep a neutral attitude, and see how things fall into place. Good music or good musician has to be recognized and not self proclaimed," says Jaycee. PostscriptJaycee's second album contains much of his personal experiences and feelings. The lack of love ballads is simply because there hasn't been much romance in his life lately. He has also learnt his lesson to steer clear of high notes in his new composition; the new album aims to come across with a comfortable feel. Four years have come to pass, and people no longer find Jaycee's relationship with Jackie Chan to be news. This is also why Jaycee chose to release his album now!
