Los Angeles, CA, United States (CNS) - Mike Tyson has escaped prosecution over November's paparazzo scuffle. The retired boxing champ will not be charged for allegedly punching a photographer at LAX due to lack of evidence.
The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office said that after a thorough review of the case, they determined that there wasn't sufficient evidence to charge either the 43-year-old heavyweight sportsman or 50-year-old Tony Echevarria, the photographer.
The two men made citizen's arrests of one another after their scuffle at the Los Angeles Airport on November 11. The boxer was passing through LAX from Europe on the way to Las Vegas when the paparazzo began taking his picture.
Tyson allegedly punched the photog in the face, causing the latter to fall to the ground. Echevarria was taken to a local hospital for the injury he sustained.
According to Shawn Chapman Holley, Tyson's attorney, Echevarria "aggressively approached" Tyson and his family by provoking and harassing them. The photog even bumped into the baby stroller carrying the boxer's 10-month-old daughter, People magazine said.
Echevarria denied he was aggressive, saying, on the contrary, he was shooting from a distance and being respectful.
