Windsor Genova - AHN News News Writer
Salton Sea, CA, United States (AHN) - Imperial County police reported Monday the discovery of a murder suspect’s mummified body inside a car in Salton Sea.
The body belongs to Javier D. Robinson, 30, who was missing since Jan. 8 after he allegedly stabbed to death Chava Barrasa, 34, at a halfway house for violent offenders, according to Lt. George Moreno of the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department.
The body was found by workers on Saturday inside the driver’s seat of a blue Nissan Sentra believed stolen by Robinson from his roommate at the halfway house.
Moreno said the body was in a state of mummification because of the cold weather.
Investigators are determining the cause of Robinson’s death. They suspect that a rat poison found in the trunk of the car may have been used by Robinson to kill himself.
