Fernandez Mon Oct 18, 2010 1:18am EDT LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Hollywood Renaissance man Neil Patrick Harris is taking on yet another role. The "How I Met Your Mother" star and Emmy and Tony host is planning to make his feature directing debut with the romantic comedy "Aaron and Sarah." The indie film stars Emma Roberts and Josh Hutcherson. The story follows a geeky guy and a popular girl who become friends as freshmen in high school and see their relationship deepen through the four years, four proms and one funeral before graduation. David O. Russell ("The Fighter") was on board to direct early last year. Sandy Stern, a principal of Michael Stipe's Single Cell Pictures ("Saved!"), is among the producers. Harris recently directed a brief musical theater run of "Rent" at the Hollywood Bowl. He has also staged a one-man play and directed an episode of his CBS sitcom. As an actor, he will next star in CBS Films' "Beastly" in March and the Columbia family film "The Smurfs" in August. He also will appear once again as a skewed version of himself in a third "Harold & Kumar" movie for Warner Bros. Roberts is currently in theaters in "It's Kind of a Funny Story," while Hutcherson most recently starred in "The Kids Are All Right."
