Goldschmidt, 24, whose power already was well known at the D-Backs home stadium, hit a grand slam and tied a franchise postseason record with five RBI as he helped Arizona stay alive in the NL Division Series. Goldschmidt, who at the time of his call up to the majors for the first time on Aug. 1 was leading the minors in home runs (30), ripped a two-out, two-strike grand slam to the opposite field as Arizona blew things wide open with a five-run fifth inning. That big hit from Goldschmidt marked the first grand slam in Diamondbacks postseason history. Goldschmidt also became only the second MLB rookie since 1998 to achieve that feat in the postseason. Goldschmidt had an RBI single in a two-run first inning as the Diamondbacks took their first lead in the series. Collmenter (1-0), who beat the Brewers the last time he faced them, baffled Milwaukee batters as he allowed only one run on two hits over seven frames. The D-Backs rookie right-hander, who went 10-10 with a 3.38 ERA in the regular season, also struck out six and issued two walks in the victory. Shaun Marcum (0-1), tabbed to lead Milwaukee’s bid to secure its first trip to the League Championship Series since 1982, was saddled with the loss after yielding seven runs on seven hits over 4 2-3 innings. The Brewers, who lead the series 2-1, one win away from advancing to their first championship series since 1982, are expected to bounce back Wednesday night for Game 4 of the best-of-five series. Randy Wolf is set to pitch for the Brewers and Joe Saunders will start for Arizona.
