They include 43 Chinese companies registered outside the mainland, Taiwan Stock Exchange spokesman Stanley Chu said Saturday according to Dow Jones Newswires. He declined to name the companies. Only Chinese companies registered offshore are allowed to list in Taiwan, while those registered inside China are barred from selling shares on the island's bourse. Chu was quoted as saying Taiwan's exchange is more attractive than some neighbouring markets, because it offers a higher average price-to-earnings ratio. He also said some Chinese companies listed abroad were likely turn to Taiwan for equity fundraising because they would face more red tape if they returned to the mainland's bourses.
