MARKET SNAPSHOTS * In the currency market, the rupee eased against the dollar on Thursday amid higher demand for the U.S. currency from oil importers. The rupee <PKR=> closed at 84.17/27 to the dollar compared with Wednesday's close of 84.10/20. [PKR/] * The Karachi Stock Exchange's benchmark 100-share index <.KSE> ended 0.56 percent, or 57.48 points, up at 10,279.52 points. Turnover was 83.4 million shares, down from 139.5 million the previous day. [.KA] * The net inflow of foreign portfolio investment in the stock market was $1.24 million on Thursday. [http://www.nccpl.com.pk/fipi-new/index.php] * U.S. stocks fell on Thursday as downbeat comments on the economy from tech company Cisco Systems Inc <CSCO.O> and retail chain Kohl's Corp <KSS.N> cast doubt on the strength of the U.S. recovery. The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 113.96 points, or 1.05 percent, to end at 10,782.95. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> fell 14.23 points, or 1.21 percent, to 1,157.44. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> lost 30.66 points, or 1.26 percent, to close at 2,394.36. [.N] * U.S. crude oil tumbled for a fourth straight session on Friday, within cents of three-month lows below $74, on concern that the European debt crisis will curb global growth and energy demand. U.S. crude for June delivery <CLc1> declined 66 cents to $73.74 a barrel at 0317 GMT, after touching an intraday trough of $73.62 on Thursday, the lowest price for a front-month contract since Feb. 12. [O/R] * Gold edged up on Friday as investors turned their backs on the euro on worries that belt-tightening in Europe will slow growth, but the metal lacked fresh momentum to surpass a recent record high.
