Iran dismisses U.N. sanctions draft

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran will hand an official letter to the International Atomic Energy Agency chief on Monday about its nuclear fuel swap agreement with Brazil and Turkey, the official IRNA news agency reported on Friday.
World | Brazil | Turkey
Leaders of the three countries announced the agreement, under which Iran will send some of its enriched uranium to Turkey in exchange for fuel rods for a Tehran medical research reactor, on Monday.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in Istanbul on Friday he hoped the deal would open the way to a negotiated settlement of Iran's row with the West over its nuclear programme.
But the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, after months of negotiations, agreed a draft resolution on a new set of sanctions against Iran that Washington handed to the Security Council on Tuesday.
"After the joint announcement of Iran, Turkey and Brazil, Iran's permanent ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency announced the country's readiness to submit the letter to the agency," IRNA reported.
"In a meeting with the agency's chief Yukiya Amano on Monday, Iran will hand over the letter," the news agency added.
Western powers fear that Iran is secretly trying to produce nuclear weapons, but Tehran denies this and says it is enriching uranium only to produce fuel for nuclear power stations.
Under the agreement, the first batch of Iran's uranium would arrive in Turkey within a month, in return for fuel rods to keep a Tehran medical research reactor running.
Such an arrangement was first mooted last October as a way to cut Iran's uranium stockpile below the minimum that would be needed for a nuclear weapon if enriched to a high fissile purity -- and buy time for more negotiations.
Turkey and Brazil -- both currently non-permanent members of the Security Council -- and Iran have urged a halt to talk of further sanctions because of the deal, but Western powers suspect it is an Iranian tactic to avert or delay sanctions.
The new, extended sanctions would target Iranian banks and call for inspection of vessels suspected of carrying cargo related to Iran's nuclear or missile programmes.
Iranian officials have dismissed the draft resolution as lacking legitimacy, and rejected international demands that it suspend enrichment.

AS US TO FOCUS ON IRAN AND NEEDS CHINA, US WILL WATER DOWN THE SITUATION AS UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT OF SOUTH KOREA SANK SHIP.
NORTH KOREA HAS NUKES SO US BACKED OFF, WHILE IRAN HAS NONE. IMAGINE IF IRAN SANK ISRAEL’S SHIP, WHAT PUNISHMENT IRAN WILL GET ? THIS IS A PROOF OF US DOUBLESTANDARD. US DARE TO INVADE IRAQ BECAUSE US KNEW BEFORE THAT IRAQ WITH WMD WAS ONLY PROPAGANDA LIES.

U.S. policy on nuclear Iran underscores bias toward Unbreakable bond Israel,
AFTER IRAQ WITH NEVER BEEN FOUND WMD, IT IS CLEAR BY NOW US ANTI IRAN TIRADE
RHETORIC DOUBLE STANDARD IS ONLY ON BEHALF OF UNBREAKABLE BOND ISRAEL, NOT THE
NON PROLIFERATION TREATY OR THE WORLD, TO MAKE SURE THAT ISRAEL IS THE SOLE
NUKES POSSESSOR IN MIDEAST. HISTORY PROVES ITSELF.
THERE IS NO SINGLE CREDITABLE EVIDENCE THAT IRAN FLOUTS THE NPT RULES OR DEVELOPS NUKES.
US AND ZIONIST MEDIA USING PROPAGANDA LIES TO CREATE ILLUSION AND MAKE BELIEVE THAT IRAN IS TO DEVELOP NUKES.
With more than 200 nuclear weapons and the capacity to deliver them against its enemies or use them to buttress its policies, Israel refuses to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty or to open its nuclear facilities for International Atomic Energy Agency inspection. On the other hand, Israel and the United States insist on applying the harshest possible sanctions against Iran, which they fear may be developing nuclear weapons. The United States furthermore is responding to a regional initiative to make the Middle East a zone free of weapons of mass destruction by linking it to progress in the peace process, which means a peace customized by and suited especially to meet Israel’s interests, naturally, because Israel is the sole nuclear power in the region. In promoting this deal, imposed by a nuclear Israel on a much weaker region, the United States is affirming that it certainly pays to be a nuclear power — you get things done on your terms — It is making mockery of other nations when the white house spokesman says Iran must assure THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY. In fact more than hundred countries support Iran’s right to nuclear technology UNDER NPT but the white house spokesman and the media do not consider that number of countries as international community. Only the bullies are entitled speak for other countries.
INDONESIA CERTAIN IRAN’S NUCLEAR PROGRAMME NOT FOR DEFENCE PURPOSES.

FINAL
JOINT DECLARATION BY IRAN, TURKEY AND BRAZIL
(17 May 2010)
Having met in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran, the undersigned have agreed on the following Declaration:
1) We reaffirm our commitment to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and in accordance with the related articles of the NPT, recall the right of all State Parties, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, to develop research, production and use of nuclear energy (as well as nuclear fuel cycle including enrichment activities) for peaceful purposes without discrimination.
2) We express our strong conviction that we have the opportunity now to begin a forwardlooking process that will create a positive, constructive, non-confrontational atmosphere leading to an era of interaction and cooperation.
3) We believe that the nuclear fuel exchange is instrumental in initiating cooperation in different areas, especially with regard to peaceful nuclear cooperation including nuclear power plant and research reactors construction.
4) Based on this point the nuclear fuel exchange is a starting point to begin cooperation and a positive constructive move forward among nations. Such a move should lead to positive interaction and cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear activities replacing and avoiding all kinds of confrontation through refraining from measures, actions and rhetorical statements that would jeopardize Iran’s rights and obligations under the NPT.
5) Based on the above, in order to facilitate the nuclear cooperation mentioned above, the Islamic Republic of Iran agrees to deposit 1200 kg LEU in Turkey. While in Turkey this LEU will continue to be the property of Iran. Iran and the IAEA may station observers to monitor the safekeeping of the LEU in Turkey.
6) Iran will notify the IAEA in writing through official channels of its agreement with the above within seven days following the date of this declaration. Upon the positive response of the Vienna Group (US, Russia, France and the IAEA) further details of the exchange will be elaborated through a written agreement and proper arrangement between Iran and the Vienna Group that specifically committed themselves to deliver 120 kg of fuel needed for the Tehran Research Reactor (TRR).
7) When the Vienna Group declares its commitment to this provision, then both parties would commit themselves to the implementation of the agreement mentioned in item 6. Islamic Republic of Iran expressed its readiness to deposit its LEU (1200 kg) within one month. On the basis of the same agreement the Vienna Group should deliver 120 kg fuel required for TRR in no later than one year.
8) In case the provisions of this Declaration are not respected Turkey, upon the request of Iran, will return swiftly and unconditionally Iran’s LEU to Iran.

In my opinion, if other Nations have rights to produce nuclear power and even Nuclear bombs, why not Iran? Iran has not used weapons of mass destruction on any nation also it is covered with several enemies around including the USA. If other Nationas including Israel can develop nuke bombs, Iran also should be permitted to do so. OR Israel and several other Nations, who have developed nucke bombs under carpet must be forced to stop producing new nuke bombs and destroy the stockpiles under U. N. Watch.

Iran has stated that their goal is to “wipe Israel off the map”. It’s their own rhetoric that condemns them to this sort of treatment by the rest of the world. If they’d quit saying childish things and acting like rebellious children, perhaps they wouldn’t be treated like children. Regarding the WMDs in Iraq: Saddam used them against the Kurds, so they clearly existed. We weren’t inclined to simply accept “They’re all gone now”. Plus, “they’re all gone now” did not satisfy the UN resolutions that Saddam agreed to (provide evidence that they were destroyed). Regarding Israel: they’ve never claimed that they want to destroy anybody. Indeed, they advocate an autonomous Palestinian state. Hamas doesn’t want to hear this because it would render the organization irrelevant.

It is fallacious to suggest N.Korea’s nuke is a serious deterrent. What causes caution is the 100’s of thousands of artillery pieces aimed at Seaol, just a few miles south of the border.
If Iran refuses to abide by the NPT, and submit to proper inspections, then war will be inevitable. The pending sanctions are only the first step in that direction.
As for N. Korea, it is a dying dynasty.
When Kim Jong Il dies there will be a coup and an opening to the west. Why? Because they will starve if they don’t.
China recently announced they would send no more food. South Korea then is their only supply.
So despite the whining Iran too will comply or the regime will die. Foolish Iran, to promise the total destruction of a human race: Do you really thing the world will allow you to have a nuke? Dream on.

If Iran wants the world to take the exchange seriously. Put its entire stock in the deal. Next make sure the IAEA instpects the product to assure they can only be used in Iran’s research reactor.
If they put their stock of U@3.5%, the US, France, Russia would send fuel rods immediately.
Iran, the world can see your lies for what they are. We know under Islam you don’t have to tell the truth to us Kufa.
So go on lying and we will go on calling you on it. Show us the evidence you aren’t pursuing a nuke, and all this trouble would go away.

it is crystal clear that the dispute between iran and USA is very basic and the atomic ones is only a pretex.iran knows this issue ,so it has completely resisted yet.
iran wants to say to western countries that if you want to interfere in our internal affairs ( human rights,….)you have to pay greately .
obviously this regime is not democratic and so does not care about its nation .
so whats the end of this cat and mouse play?
islamic regime continue to suppress its nation because of the external threat of GREAT CAT,and continue to its survival, the USA takes its several profits with magnifying the threat of this MOUCE,(selling billion dollers arsenals to wealthy arabs ,denote billion dollers arsenals ot israel,…),china and russia (great winners of this dispute)take lots of privileges from both sides.
so in this play all participants are satisfied until this play continue calmly, without a real threat to side.

The government of Iran is not a legitimate one. It only won through fraud. If Iran had a bomb, it would be the first to use one since WW II. They are just that crazy.
Time to shut them down completely. This is just a delaying tactic but will not work. Too bad they didn’t take the first offer from the west. Now let them feel the punishment from the world community.
If they they felt isolated before, wait till the new sanctions take effect.
