Wednesday’s result has dampened United’s playoff hopes. It must win its final three games to have a shot at the preseason. D.C. finally broke through in the 58th courtesy of Brandon McDonald, but failed to produce another goal in its comeback bid. Meanwhile, the triumph, the second straight for Vancouver, improved the team’s record to 6-16-10 with two games remaining in their first MLS season. It also the second win by Vancouver in its new home at BC Place. D.C. United (9-11-11) will continue with its playoff hunt Saturday against the visiting Chicago Fire.
