Early McCartney musings discovered in Liverpool

LONDON – He famously wrote that he wanted to be a paperback writer. A recently discovered essay, penned in 1953 for a local competition, shows Paul McCartney got started early.
A British researcher found an essay written by the former Beatle for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. In it, he called her "our lovely young queen."
Kevin Roach found the work in records at Liverpool's Central Library. Roach said McCartney's writing is "advanced _ you would say it was written by someone who was older than 10 years old, more like 14 or 15."
McCartney won the under-11 age category. He was given a prize _ a gift certificate for books _ by Liverpool's Lord Mayor. His brother Mike told the Sunday Times he recalls McCartney "being nervous" before receiving the prize.
