MONTERREY, Mexico (Reuters) - An explosion at a refinery operated by Mexico's state oil monopoly Pemex in northern Mexico killed several people Tuesday, Milenio TV reported.
A local newspaper website said seven people had died at the Cadereyta complex, Mexico's most sophisticated oil refinery.
A Pemex official in Monterrey confirmed the blast at Cadereyta but could not say what the cause was.
Mexico, a major crude oil producer, is a net importer of fuel due to a lack of refining capacity.
