"RPM MIAMI," a co-production between Telemundo and the Spanish language network's cable arm, mun2, is aimed at the 50 million Latinos living in the United States, producers said on Friday. "It is designed for the new multicultural American audience. We hope it will grow and that we will be able to cater to this new growing audience in the United States," executive producer Alonso Galvez said. Shot in Miami, the show is a bilingual drama with telenovela roots. It follows a group of young Latino friends as they struggle to make something of themselves by day and conquer the underground racing scene by night. "This is the first of a kind. We are making history here," said Mexican born R&B singer Frankie J., who plays the owner of the RPM car shop in the 13 episode series. Producers said the show was aimed at the growing population of young Latinos living in the United States, who are equally at home speaking either Spanish or English. "RPM MIAMI", debuts on mun2 on May 1. Telemundo, part of NBCUniversal, is the second largest provider of Spanish language content worldwide.
