Home U.S. World Entertainment Sports Business Health Science Technology Politics Offbeat Environment Travel   News Articles Man Who Caused Mistrial In John Travolta's Extortion Case Escapes Punishment October 30, 2009 8:32 a.m. EST   Anne Lu - Celebrity News Service News Writer Nassau, Bahamas (CNS) - The man who caused John Travolta's extortion case to be declared as a mistrial has avoided a contempt of court charge. Lawmaker Picewell Forbes has "suffered enough" after being ridiculed internationally for his blunder. Senior Justice Anita Allen decided not to charge Forbes for announcing at a political convention that former Senator Pleasant Bridgewater, who is also a defendant of the case, was a "free woman" before the jury made a decision. The judge summoned Forbes to court to explain his untimely announcement. He claimed he was only repeating a rumor he heard about the verdict. Allen said she is letting the lawmaker go because he already had been "rightly ridiculed locally and internationally" and that he had suffered enough. Travolta sued Bridgewater, Obie Wilchcombe, and Tarino Lightbourne for allegedly trying to extort millions from him in exchange for going public with the information that the Hollywood actor refused to transport dying son Jett to a hospital. Judge Allen has yet to set a schedule date for the retrial.   Copyright © 2003 - 2009 AHN - All rights reserved.Redistribution, republication. syndication, rewriting or broadcast is prohibited without the prior written consent of AHN.License AHN news for your website, business, digital signage network or publication.   Recent Posts Most Popular Comments Recent Comments Popular Threads Home | U.S. | World | Entertainment | Sports | Business | Health | Sci / Tech | Politics | Weird / Offbeat Follow AHN on Twitter AHN Social News connects you with friends and the news Client Login | Submit News | Privacy Policy | Terms of Use | Contact | Content Services © 2009 AHN All Rights Reserved
