Intel CEO Paul Otellini is set to visit Taiwan and meet executives at the island's top telecom operator on Oct 28, and the two companies could sign a memorandum of understanding after the meeting, the Commercial Times said, without citing sources. Chunghwa Telecom could become Intel's first telecom partner in smart TV, a new category of electronics devices that offer users an interactive TV experience, the Chinese-language paper said. No financial terms were disclosed. Officials from the two companies were not available for comments. Last month, Intel unveiled microprocessors for smart TVs and Web-connected cars and expanded an online store selling applications for netbooks built with its Atom chips.
