MARKET SNAPSHOTS * The rupee weakened to cross 86 rupees to the dollar on Monday, amid higher payments for imports, especially oil following a rise in international oil prices, dealers said. The rupee <PKR=> ended at 86.16/22 to the dollar, compared with 85.85/90 on Friday. [PKR/] * The Karachi Stock Exchange's benchmark 100-share index <.KSE> ended 0.60 percent, or 62.07 points, higher at 10,322.55. The KSE-index ended at 10,351.72 points on Aug. 5. Turnover was 88.84 million shares, compared with 134.7 million shares on Friday. [.KA] * U.S. stocks drifted in the lightest trading volume of the year on Monday as few dared to place bets ahead of key companies' results later this week. The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> edged up 3.86 points, or 0.04 percent, to end at 11,010.34. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> inched up just 0.17 of a point, or 0.01 percent, to 1,165.32. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> gained 0.42 of a point, or 0.02 percent, to 2,402.33. [.N] * Oil fell for a second day on Tuesday after Saudi Arabia signalled OPEC would maintain current production levels at the group's meeting later this week, letting the market focus on dollar movements and prospects of monetary stimulus. U.S. crude for November <CLc1> slid 45 cents to $81.76 a barrel by 0312 GMT, down almost $3 from last week's five-month high of $84.43, reached on expectations the U.S. Federal Reserve will carry out this year a new round of monetary stimulus, also known as quantitative easing stage two, or QE2. [O/R] * Gold edged lower on Tuesday, pressured by a stronger dollar, but expectations of further monetary easing by the U.S. Federal Reserve are likely to support the bull run in bullion.
