Beatles sell over 2 million in first week on iTunes
LOS ANGELES - The Beatles sold more than two million individual songs and more than 450,000 albums worldwide in their first week of release on Apple's iTunes store, Apple said on Tuesday. Of the catalog of 13 Beatles studio albums released last week, "Abbey Road" was the top-selling digital album in the U.S. at the iTunes store, landing at No. 6 overall for the week ending Nov 22. "The Beatles Box Set" was No. 10 on the iTunes U.S. album charts for the week.
"Harry Potter" set to rule Thanksgiving box office
LOS ANGELES - Harry Potter will easily retain his crown at the weekend box office in North America even as four new movies take advantage of Thanksgiving-fueled business. Britney Spears' mom loses defamation appeal
LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears' mother has lost an effort to convince a California appeals court to toss a defamation claim made by the singer's former manager. Sam Lufti, who represented the pop star for about five months in 2007-08, sued Lynne Spears over comments in her 2008 book, "Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World." The elder Spears painted a portrait of Lufti as a predatory Svengali-type who drugged Britney and served as a gatekeeper for all others. Specifically, the book referred to Lufti as a "predator," a "fake" and a "shifty" man, and accused him of "planning evil" and using paparazzi as his "henchmen."
Julianne Hough dances into movies with "Burlesque"
LOS ANGELES - Best known as a two-time winner on the hit reality TV series "Dancing With the Stars," Julianne Hough blossoms into a Hollywood movie star when her first feature film, "Burlesque," debuts on Wednesday. Hough, 22, has already earned a fair share of celebrity in recent years, owing to her winning ways on "Dancing," which for years has been among the highest rated shows on U.S. TV. She is forging a career as a country singer and even has more movies planned for her future.
Black Eyed Peas test waters for 2011 stadium tour
DETROIT - If the Black Eyed Peas have their way, "The Beginning" will indeed be the start of a new phase in the group's career when it comes to performing live.
