Long Island, NY, United States (AHN) - Two men sustained burn injuries when the small plane they were flying crashed into an unoccupied office building on Long Island Saturday.
The pilot and instructor were practicing takeoffs and landings from the Long Island Islip MacArthur Airport when the accident happened, the New York Times reported.
The plane struck the Varsity Plumbing & Heating Co. building in the town of Bohemia, according to a local television station.
It’s unclear if anyone else was injured in the crash. A spokeswoman for the Suffolk County Police Department said no one in the building was injured, but a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman told the Times that a pedestrian was hit by the single-engine Beechcraft 23.
One of the men sustained third-degree burns and the other minor burns, according to the TV station.
