For the FBS website, click on * State Bank of Pakistan to sell 90.0 billion rupees worth of its 3-, 6-, and 12-month treasury bills on Wednesday. MARKET SNAPSHOTS * The rupee <PKR=> was slightly weaker at 84.68/78 to the dollar, compared with Saturday's close of 84.65/75. Dealers said there were few import payments in the market, and portfolio inflows had provided some support over recent days. The rupee ended at an all-time closing low last week and hit an all-time low of 85.15 last month. [PKR/] * Pakistani stocks ended more than 1 percent higher on Monday, despite a suicide car bomb attack in the eastern city of Lahore, with the market enjoying a boost in confidence from foreign buying last week, dealers said. The Karachi Stock Exchange's benchmark 100-share index <.KSE> rose 113.90 points, or 1.18 percent, to end at 9,740.19 points on turnover of 125.6 million shares. [.KA] * The net inflow of foreign portfolio investment in the stock market was $4.21 million on Monday. The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 13.68 points, or 0.13 percent, to end at 10,552.52. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> shed just 0.20 of a point, or 0.02 percent, to 1,138.50. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> gained 5.86 points, or 0.25 percent, to 2,332.21, its highest close in 18 months[.N] * Oil slid on Tuesday as forecasts for growing U.S. crude inventories tempered bullish sentiment about the global economic recovery, which had driven prices to an eight-week high above $82 a day earlier. Crude for April delivery <CLc1> fell 45 cents to $81.42 a barrel at 0245 GMT, after touching $82.41 on Monday, the highest level since prices jumped to a 15-month high of $83.95 on Jan. 11.[O/R] * Gold edged down on Tuesday as early bargain hunting subsided, and dealers said a weaker U.S. dollar was probably needed to help the metal break free from its current range.
