"I want to do comedy," he told BBC radio early on Monday after winning his Oscar late on Sunday. "King's Speech" and tradition triumph at Oscars LOS ANGELES - Hollywood found a new group of kings lording over movies on Monday, the makers of Oscar winner "The King's Speech," whose heartwarming tale triumphed over a flashy story of new technology in "The Social Network." "King's Speech" claimed four Oscars -- best film, actor for Colin Firth, director and screenplay -- with a traditional story of a British monarch defeating personal demons. It featured World War Two-era costumes, sweeping sets and a royal tale that seemed bigger than life itself. Charlie Sheen escalates rants, publicist quits NEW YORK - Actor Charlie Sheen escalated his recent rants against his former "Two and a Half Men" employers, demanding a pay raise and threatening a lawsuit in two TV interviews that caused his spokesman to quit. Sheen, whose erratic behavior has put the future of his top-rated TV comedy in jeopardy, boasted on Monday morning chat shows about his partying lifestyle and said he was tired of pretending he is not "a total frigging rock star from Mars." Oscar telecast among least-watched, show panned LOS ANGELES - Some 37.6 million Americans watched Sunday's widely-panned Oscar ceremony, making the telecast one of the least-watched Academy Awards shows of the past 10 years. But attempts by Oscar organizers to attract a younger audience appeared to have paid off, with the show keeping 95 percent of its 18-34 year-old audience from last year, according to Nielsen ratings data on Monday. Natalie Portman leaps to Oscar for "Black Swan" LOS ANGELES - Natalie Portman won the Oscar as best actress on Sunday for her role as an unhinged ballerina in the thriller "Black Swan," denying Annette Bening the golden statuette for the fourth time in her career. The 29-year-old Israeli-American, considered the favorite after dominating other film awards shows leading up to the Oscars, was visibly overwhelmed as she dished out thanks in a trembling voice, and occasional stammer. Colin Firth adds first Oscar to awards haul LOS ANGELES - Britain's Colin Firth won his first Oscar on Sunday for playing a stammering monarch in "The King's Speech", crowning a virtual clean sweep of the movie awards season. The best actor victory was expected for the 50-year-old veteran of the screen and stage after his acclaimed portrayal of reluctant wartime King George VI, struggling to overcome a crippling speech impediment. "King's Speech" wins best picture Oscar LOS ANGELES - "The King's Speech" won the top Academy Award, for best picture, giving the British royals drama a total of four Oscars at Sunday's ceremony. The acclaimed film about the efforts of the future King George VI to overcome a crippling stammer went into the event with a leading 12 nominations. It won such key awards as best actor for its star, Colin Firth. Christian Bale wins Oscar for "The Fighter" LOS ANGELES - Welsh-born actor Christian Bale won the Academy Award on Sunday for his supporting role as a washed-up former boxing champ in "The Fighter", moments after co-star Melissa Leo clinched the best supporting actress Oscar. Bale, 37, dominated the various awards shows leading up to the Oscars, but pundits had said he might face some strong competition from Geoffrey Rush for "The King's Speech." German celebrity opossum misses one Oscar pick BERLIN as best actor during a series of appearances on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show on U.S. broadcaster ABC last week. Tom Hooper wins director Oscar for "King's Speech" LOS ANGELES - British filmmaker Tom Hooper on Sunday, won the Academy Award for directing "The King's Speech," and he said it might not have happened without a little help from his mom. Hooper said his mother, Meredith, went to see a play reading in 2007 about a speech therapist who helped the future King George VI of England overcome a crippling stammer.
