Chris Brown commended for progress on probation

LOS ANGELES - R&B singer Chris Brown was praised on Thursday for a "commendable" job in complying with court-ordered domestic violence classes and community service imposed for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Los Angeles Superior Court judge Patricia Schnegg told Brown, 21, at a hearing that of the thousands of people who come before her on probation "no one has done a better or more consistent job than you have, and I really want to commend you for taking responsibility and for actually working diligently to complete all the things the court has required of you."

Taylor Swift announces Thanksgiving Special

NEW YORK - Beyonce's Thanksgiving TV special has just earned a bit of friendly competition: Taylor Swift has announced her own "Taylor Swift: Speak Now" primetime musical show, set to air Thanksgiving night on U.S. network NBC. The hour-long special will feature the country star performing nine songs from third album "Speak Now" in various locations, including the tour of a Hollywood tour bus and New York's Central Park.

Theory emerges about Hollywood publicist's murder

LOS ANGELES Police investigating the killing of Ronni Chasen have assembled a working theory of what happened to the veteran Hollywood publicist. They believe the Beverly Hills attack on Tuesday was planned in advance and not the result of road rage or a carjacking gone awry, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

"Glee" to do "Thriller" in post Super Bowl special

LOS ANGELES - The cast of "Glee" will perform a mash-up version of Michael Jackson's legendary song "Thriller" in February as part of a special after the Super Bowl football game, Fox television said on Thursday. But the special episode will not be devoted entirely to the music of the late "King of Pop", and "Thriller" will be performed mixed in with another unnamed song, officials at the network said.

Network cancels "Medium" tv series

LOS ANGELES - U.S. network CBS has canceled the long-running drama series "Medium." The network is axing the five-year-old thriller, which has been a weak link in its Friday night lineup.

Dane Cook latest comedian set for Broadway

NEW YORK - U.S. comedian Dane Cook will make his Broadway debut in an upcoming Neil LaBute play, producers said on Thursday, joining funnymen Chris Rock, Robin Williams and Ben Stiller who are all set to make turns in separate Broadway productions next year. Cook, the 38-year-old stand-up comedian and actor from several HBO comedy specials, will portray an acerbic friend in LaBute's "Fat Pig," joining actor Josh Hamilton in a revival of the 2004 play that tells the story of a thirty-something bachelor who falls for a beautiful and plus-sized librarian.

Anne Hathaway, Denzel Washington to co-host Nobel peace concert

LOS ANGELES - Actress Anne Hathaway and Oscar winner Denzel Washington have been tapped as co-hosts of the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Norway, the event's organizers said on Thursday. Performers at the concert, which will take place on December 11 in Oslo, range from veteran rocker Elvis Costello to current pop sensation Robyn and include jazz funk act Jamiroquai, "Mandy" singer Barry Manilow and pianist Herbie Hancock.

A Minute With: Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe

LONDON - Daniel Radcliffe, 21, has spent nearly half his life as a movie star since he was first cast as Harry Potter a decade ago. The Briton is now a multi-millionaire and famous the world over after the eight-movie series turned into one of the biggest film franchises in cinema history.

Paul Rudd, Jeff Bridges to host "SNL" in December

LOS ANGELES - Robert De Niro, Paul Rudd and Jeff Bridges are set to host "Saturday Night Live" in December, U.S. network NBC announced Thursday. De Niro, who can next be seen in the feature "Little Fockers," leads off the month on December 4 with musical guest Diddy-Dirty Money.

Michael Jackson's new album could top previous one

NEW YORK - Nearly a year and a half after the tragic death of Michael Jackson, the King of Pop continues to play a significant role in boosting the fortunes of his label Epic Records and its parent Sony Music Entertainment. Jackson's total U.S. music sales are on pace to fall sharply in 2010 from last year, when grief over his untimely death on June 25, 2009, sparked a massive spike in sales of his catalog.
