KARACHI, Jan 21 - Following is a list of events in Pakistan as well as news stories and press reports which may influence financial markets.

* Pakistan Petroleum Ltd <PPL.KA> to announce quarterly financial results on Monday, Jan. 24.
* State Bank of Pakistan to announce on Jan. 29 its monetary policy for the subsequent two months.
MARKET SNAPSHOTS
* The rupee <PKR=> ended weaker at 85.73/80 to the dollar on Thursday, compared with Wednesday's close of 85.68/73 because of rising international oil prices.
* The Karachi Stock Exchange's benchmark 100-share index <.KSE> ended 1.32 percent, or 165.74 points, lower at 12,411.81.
Turnover fell to 183.6 million shares from 188 million shares on Wednesday.
* Foreign investors bought shares worth a net $2.25 million on Thursday.
* U.S. stocks fell on Thursday as lackluster tech and materials earnings failed to live up to heightened expectations, threatening to short-circuit a seven-week run.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dipped 2.49 points, or 0.02 percent, to 11,822.80. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> fell 1.66 points, or 0.13 percent, to 1,280.26. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> lost 21.07 points, or 0.77 percent, to 2,704.29. [.N]
* U.S. crude futures stayed weak on Friday, a day after a sell-off amid an unexpected rise in U.S. crude stockpiles and worries that China might tighten monetary policy to fight inflation.
NYMEX crude for March delivery <CLc1> was down 14 cents at $89.45 a barrel by 0029 GMT. [O/R]
* Spot gold edged up on Friday, recovering from a decline of two percent in the previous session, as the rebound in the dollar continued to pressure prices after U.S. data showed the economy was on a steadier footing.
Spot gold <XAU=> edged up 0.1 percent to $1,346.91 an ounce by 0030 GMT, after sliding to a two-month low of $1,342.65 in the previous session. [GOL/]
