Ship traffic in the portion of the river in the western state of Rhineland-Palatinate was stopped as rescuers search for two of four crew members who went missing after the Waldhof turned to its side. It was not known what caused the capsizing of the tanker but it was in the narrowest portion of the river where the current is unusually strong when the accident happened. Boats have figured in accidents in the same spot over the years. Two crew members of the Waldhof are in good condition after being brought to a hospital.
