World No one was wounded in the attacks, Palestinian medical workers said. The army spokesman said the air strikes targeted a metal factory in northern Gaza that Israel believed was used to make weapons and a tunnel dug by militants near the Israeli border. He said the strikes were in response to a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip toward Israel on Thursday. In a separate incident, two Palestinians were killed and several injured when a cooking gas canister smuggled from Egypt exploded in a tunnel, medical workers said. Palestinians use tunnels under the Egypt-Gaza border to smuggle in everything from staples to weapons to skirt an Israeli blockade on the enclave. Israel tightened its blockade in 2007 after the Islamist group Hamas took control of Gaza. Israel launched a devastating military offensive in Gaza in December 2008 with the declared aim of stopping daily rocket fire aimed at its southern cities. (Reporting by Nidal al-Mughrabi; Writing by Joseph Nasr, editing by Tim Pearce) World Comments See All Comments (2)  |  Post Comment May 29, 2010 8:07am EDT There seems little doubt the Israel has some political blackmail that will cause unrest within the US and the world in general.. Perhaps it is as simple as they are willing to say how the US has proliferated nuclear weapons although I believe it is much deeper. It is undoubtedly something that will shock the world and embarrass if not indict our highest officials and possibly cause unrest or even revolution within our country. Is it not obvious? Israel does nothing to keep peace in the Mideast. They have on many occasion attacked their neighbors under the guise of trying to stop aggression yet they are the country that has seized neighbors property against UN treaties and we continue to support them. We do more than that. We cater to their every whim. When the rhetoric starts to turn against Israel because of their aggression suddenly it is all apologies from the US and we submit to their wishes and defense of their political stand. What is their hold on the US? It has been said they are a puppet government of the US. I believe the US is their puppet government. I am not an expert or up on miid east studies to know what it is. There are many intelligent, well informed people that are. We must listen. We must stop the circle if we are to free the US from this circle. Jac_r Report As Abusive     May 29, 2010 10:40am EDT Hey you donot have to be an expert on the Mideast, but if you donot know who has their paw in yer pocket that’s too bad: According to the Christian Science Monitor, the cost of Israel to the American TAXPAYER has been over $1.6 TRILLION since 1973.http://www.csmonitor.com/2002/1209/p16s01-wmgn.html GOLUM Report As Abusive       See All Comments (2)       Add a Comment *We welcome comments that advance the story directly or with relevant tangential information.
