In a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Air China said French-based plane-maker Airbus, Air China's import agent AIE and Shenzhen Airlines had agreed on the purchase of 10 Airbus 320 airliners. The airline said that the basic price Shenzhen Airlines would pay for the 10 aircraft "in aggregate is approximately 814 million dollars", and included "significant price concessions" made by Airbus. Along with the purchase of 20 Airbus 320 airliners agreed in February, this would bring the value of Air China's orders placed with Airbus within a 12-month period to 2.442 billion dollars, Air China's statement said. "Shenzhen Airlines is expecting to take delivery of Airbus Aircraft in stages from 2012 to 2013," the statement said. The acquisition of the airliners will "mainly expand the fleet capacity of Shenzhen Airlines in south China," Air China said. Shenzhen Airlines is based in Shenzhen, the rapidly expanding city on Hong Kong's northern border. The statement follows Air China's announcement in late June that it had agreed to buy 20 of Boeing's 737-800 planes for 1.4 billion dollars.
