* To take at least 3 days to operate all CDUs, RFCC normally
* Shutdown started on Monday due to power outage in Yeosu
* LG Chem to restart to 1 mln tpy-cracker Tuesday
* Honam and YNCC crackers unaffected by outage
SEOUL, Jan 18 - South Korea's GS Caltex has initiated steps to restart its No. 4 330,000 barrels per day after a power outage on Monday led to its shutdown, company officials said on Tuesday.
The country's No. 2 oil refiner would take at least three days to get all the crude distillation units and its No. 1 residue fluid catalytic cracker return to normal operations, they added. Its CDUs have a maximum capacity of 760,000 bpd and the RFCC has a capacity of 94,000 bpd.
The facilities had not restarted operations even though power was restored after 20 minutes to facilities located in the southwestern city of Yeosu, one of South Korea's major crude oil refining and petrochemical producing hubs.
The power outage also led to a shutdown of one million tonne-per-year naphtha cracker owned by South Korea's LG Chem .
"The naphtha cracker and other downstream units will be restarted within today," said Song Choong-seop, a spokesman at the petrochemical maker that has a total cracking capacity of 1.8 million tpy.
A report by Yonhap News said on Monday that operations at about 20 companies were suspended because of the outage. Most of them are oil and chemicals firms, including Cheil Industries .
Naphtha crackers with a total capacity of 3.65 million-tpy in Yeosu are owned by LG Chem, YNCC and Honam Petrochemical Corp . YNCC and Honam crackers were not affected by the outage, according to sources at the companies.
Shares of GS Holdings Corp , a major shareholder of GS Caltex, closed up 2.67 percent at 73,100 won and LG Chem shed 0.72 percent to 412,000 won on Tuesday compared with the broader market's 0.16 percent fall .
