Abby Sunderland, 16, is currently on a fishing boat, the Ile de la Reunion, which is heading to the Kerguelen Islands -- a desolate French archipelago -- after plucking her from her ill-starred sloop Wild Eyes. "A transfer to the French fisheries patrol vessel Osiris will take place off the islands in about two days, depending on the weather, for a return to Reunion at a date not yet known," the island's prefect Michel Lalande said. He added that Australia has issued a warning to all ships in the vicinity of Sunderland's drifting yacht, which has been abandoned to the high seas. On her website (soloround.blogspot.com), Sunderland -- who spent two nights adrift in rough seas, prompting an international rescue effort -- wrote Saturday that "one long wave" had torn off Wild Eyes' mast. "I'll write a more detailed blog later," she said, "just wanted to let every one know I am safe and sound on a great big fishing boat headed I am not exactly sure where." She added: "Crazy is the word that really describes everything that has happened best."
