* Federal Bureau of Statistic to release monthly consumer price index for April on or soon after Wednesday.
MARKET SNAPSHOTS
* In the currency market, the rupee <PKR=> firmed to 83.88/94 to the dollar on Tuesday compared with Monday's close of 84.14/19 because of fewer import payments and also because exporters sold dollars. [PKR/]
* Stocks ended lower because of selling by foreign investors following pressure in world markets.
The Karachi Stock Exchange's benchmark 100-share index <.KSE> fell 0.77 percent, or 79.33 points, to end at 10,208.21 on turnover of 111 million shares. [.KA]
* The net inflow of foreign portfolio investment in the stock market was $1.60 million on Tuesday.

* The Dow and the S&P 500 fell in a volatile session on Tuesday as fears that a $1 trillion bailout for Europe won't solve the region's deep-seated problems blunted an improving U.S. economic picture.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 36.88 points, or 0.34 percent, to end at 10,748.26. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> fell 3.94 points, or 0.34 percent, to 1,155.79. But the Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> edged up just 0.64 of a point, or 0.03 percent, to close at 2,375.31. [.N]
* Oil fell for a second straight day on Wednesday to trade below $76 on mounting concern that emerging economies would fail to compensate for potential consumption declines triggered by Europe's debt crisis.
U.S. crude for delivery in June <CLc1> tumbled 50 cents to $75.87 a barrel at 0229 GMT, trading almost $4.50 lower than front-month ICE Brent futures <LCOc1>, which slipped 17 cents to $80.32. [O/R]
* Gold ticked lower on Wednesday but held near a lifetime high struck the previous day as investors bet the euro zone debt crisis could spread beyond Greece.
Spot gold <XAU=> was at $1,227.50 an ounce by 0248 GMT, down $4.55 an ounce from New York's notional close on Tuesday, when safe haven buying helped it surpass December's record. [GOL/]
