Redwood City, CA, United States (AHN) - Electronic Arts Inc. expressed its support for Tiger Woods Monday in a statement released by its company president.
Peter Moore said EA Sports stands behind Tiger's achievements as a a golfing great, rather than consider his recent transgressions.
"Regardless of what's happening in his personal life, and regardless of his decision to take a personal leave from the sport, Tiger Woods is still one of the greatest athletes in history," Peter Moore, president of EA Sports, said in a statement today.
"Our relationship with Tiger has always been rooted in golf," Moore added. "We didn't form a relationship with him so that he could act as an arms-length endorser."
"Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online", a golf game played through a web browser, will still be released later this month, according to the company.
Woods, on an indefinite leave from the sport after admitting to infidelity, has not been as fortunate with other companies, as AT&T and Accenture Plc cut their business cords with the golfer.
Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer and Procter & Gamble Co.'s Gillette, meanwhile, cut back ads where the star is featured prominently.
EA Sports is not alone in its support of Woods, as Nike and Upper Deck have continued their business relationships with the star.
