Turnover fell to 143.3 million shares, compared with 153 million shares traded on Tuesday. * Foreign investors bought shares worth a net $1.84 million on Wednesday. * U.S. stocks eked out gains on Wednesday despite another rise in oil prices as investors bet the latest data signaled the economy could absorb expected higher energy costs. The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 8.78 points, or 0.07 percent, at 12,066.80. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 2.11 points, or 0.16 percent, at 1,308.44. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 10.66 points, or 0.39 percent, at 2,748.07. [.N] * Oil rose on Thursday as investors eyed growing instability in key Middle East oil producing countries, which could signal another threat to global supplies, after Libya's Muammar Gaddafi ordered airstrikes near Libyan oil facilities. U.S. crude <CLc1> rose 31 cents to $102.54 at 0106 GMT, after hitting a high of $102.94. Brent crude <LCOc1> rose 23 cents to $116.58 per barrel.
