New York Officials Stage Mock Explosion; Largest Emergency Drill Since 9/11

New York, NY (AHN) - Emergency officials in New York City performed the largest disaster drill since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center.
City officials staged a mock explosion on the PATH commuter rail train station in the tunnel that links the station to northern New Jersey.
The drill includes more than 800 firefighters and city, Port Authority and New Jersey officials.
To avoid the panic that happened in April when a White House 747 flew over the city for a photo op , the city bought television ads and placed posters in train stations throughout the city announcing the two-hour drill.
On April 27, a jet that is used as the president's Air Force One flew over the city, sometimes as low as 500 feet. The plane was trailed by two F-16 fighter jets, leading many people on the ground and in the city's skyscrapers to believe another terror attack was underway. The Federal Aviation Administration told city officials not to make the flight public.
The incident was ordered so the plane could be photographed flying over the Statue of Liberty, but it turned into an embarrassment for the Obama administration. A White House Aide who reportedly authorized the flight resigned.
