Congressional Republicans Weigh In On CIA, Pelosi Feud

Washington, DC (AHN) - Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on a Sunday morning news talk show that congressional intelligence committees are the appropriate bodies to determine whether House Speaker Nancy Pelosi or the CIA is telling the truth about disclosure over the use of harsh interrogation methods.
The issue erupted Thursday, when Pelosi, D-CA, accused the CIA of lying to Congress in 2002 about the use of such tactics like waterboarding. She admitted at a press conference that her aide attended a CIA briefing in 2003 and was told that the tactic was being used on some high-level terror detainees.
This contradicts earlier statements from Pelosi, who maintained she never knew the tactics were employed.
CIA Director Leon Panetta issued a statement this week saying CIA records indicate Congress was told about the techniques. He, Like McConnell, said it is up to Congress to "reach its own conclusions."
McConnell, R-KY, told "Fox News Sunday" that if there is still a dispute between the spy agency and Pelosi, "The best way to resolve the dispute, if it needs to be resolved, is through the [House and Senate] intelligence committees."
Meanwhile, House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-OH, said on Sunday that if Pelosi actually was misled by the CIA, she should contact the Justice Department and seek prosecution on those involved for lying to Congress. Otherwise, she "ought to apologize to our intelligence professionals around the world," Boehner said on CNN.
