(Reuters News welcomes your feedback and for any queries please contact Chris Allbritton in Islamabad editorial on +92-51 281 0017 or via email at chris.allbritton@thomsonreuters.com or on Reuters messaging chris.allbritton@thomsonreuters.com)
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN PAKISTAN, ALL TIMES LOCAL FOLLOWED BY GMT:
* State Bank of Pakistan to sell 80 billion rupees worth of 3-, 6- and 12-month treasury bills on Wednesday.
MARKET SNAPSHOTS
* The Pakistani rupee firmed a bit on Monday after falling to consecutive lows last week. Dealers said it would likely hold steady around current levels as payment pressures from importers start easing.
The rupee <PKR=PK> ended at 86.20/25 to the dollar on Monday, up from 86.23/27 on Friday. Before Friday, the rupee had closed on record lows for five days in a row. [PKR/]
* The Karachi Stock Exchange's benchmark 100-share index <.KSE> ended 0.03 percent, or 2.59 points, higher at 10,045.03.
Turnover was 53.28 million shares, compared with 63.82 million shares on Friday.
* The net inflow of foreign portfolio investment in the stock market was $14.68 million on Monday.
* U.S. stocks fell in light trading on Monday as investors took profits on recent gains, using middling economic data and worries about euro zone debt as a catalyst for shedding long positions.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> fell 78.41 points, or 0.72 percent, at 10,751.27. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> lost 9.21 points, or 0.80 percent, at 1,137.03. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> dropped 26.23 points, or 1.11 percent, at 2,344.52. [.N]
* Oil slipped on Tuesday on forecasts for gains in U.S. crude and gasoline inventories, a stronger dollar, falling equity markets and technical signals showing Monday's rally to a two-month high was overdone.
U.S. crude for November <CLc1> shed 12 cents to $81.35 a barrel at 0259 GMT, more than $1 below a two-month high of $82.38 touched on Monday. ICE Brent for November <LCOc1> slipped 25 cents to $83.03. [O/R]
* Gold extended losses on Tuesday as renewed concerns about euro-zone debt put pressure on the euro and offset hopes of further monetary easing in the United States.
Spot gold <XAU=> fell 65 cents to $1,314.55 an ounce by 0332 GMT, down from a lifetime high around $1,320 hit last Friday. Gold has gained as much as 20 percent this year, partly driven by expectations the Federal Reserve would take fresh steps to aid the economy. [GOL/]
