New York, NY, United States (CNS) - Ellen Barkin has won around $4.3 million in a suit against billionaire ex-husband Ron Perelman. A Manhattan judge ordered Perelman to pay the actress the money he agreed to invest into her film production company before their divorce.
The ex-couple were married in 2000, but they ended up in a nasty divorce in 2006, with Barkin reportedly raking in $60 million from the Revlon cosmetics tycoon.
But before they parted ways, Perelman agreed to fund a production company that Barkin and her brother George would run. He signed a contract to make four capital contributions a year to Applehead Pictures in 2006 and 2007, totaling $3.4 million.
Perelman claimed that the agreement was null and void because Barkin violated their divorce agreement by publicly speaking about their relationship and not taking any steps to acquire a "get," a divorce document in Jewish Law.
As per New York Post, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Debra James ruled in favor of Barkin's production company, saying the Applehead contract and the divorce agreement were separate deals. Perelman was ordered to pay the original $3.4 million agreement plus interest.
