Windsor Genova - AHN News Writer
Torrance, CA, United States (AHN) - Toyota Motor Sales USA is recalling 8,000 2010 models of Tacoma four-wheel-drive trucks to inspect its front drive shaft for cracks that may eventually lead to the separation of the drive shaft at the joint portion.
The company announced the recall on Friday to ensure the safety of Tacoma owners. It said a component of the shaft may contain cracks that developed during the manufacturing process.
TMS said dealers will do the free 10-minute inspection and identify the specific lot number on the front drive shaft.
Those vehicles with cracks will be replaced on a case to case basis, it said.
The company will notify Tacoma 4WD owners of the inspection in the middle of March.
