The center said Paloma now packed sustained winds of 140 kilometers (85 miles) an hour, which qualified it to a Category One storm on the Saffir-Simpson scale. At 0900 GMT, the eye of the hurricane was located 45 kilometers (30 miles) southeast of the city iof Camaguey, Cuba, according to the US center.
