Wang, who had already retained her 500m title and powered China to the 3,000m relay gold, timed 1:29.213 on Friday and was followed home by American Katherine Reutter and South Korea's Park Seung-Hi. "History has been made tonight by the Chinese ladies team. I'm so very proud," said Wang. "I really feel these three medals belong to my team. I have now achieved all my Olympic dreams." Wang moved to the front quickly and despite Park taking the lead in the second lap the Chinese skater fought back to reclaim pole position. "I haven't been well the last few days and I want to thank my coach and teammates for their support," said Wang. "I'm so tired. I almost didn't think I would finish. My whole chest hurts." She added that China's domination of South Korea meant even more to her as team captain. "As captain of the Chinese short track team it means even more to me." Teammate Zhou Yang, the 1,500m winner who set a new 1,000m world record time in the semi-finals, was disqualified for impeding. Zhou said: "I wanted to skate well, but I slipped and then my goal was to do my best to support Wang Meng. "I would like to have skated better in this race, but I do have the gold in 1500m and the relay. It's just great that we won all the gold." It was the first time that a country has monopolised women's Olympic titles since the sport made its debut in 1992. Ruetter said: "I put everything on the line and it paid off. I feel like everything I've ever done has paid off. This is my moment I've been dreaming of." South Korea won two-out-of-two men's events in 1992. The 1,000m gold was Wang's sixth medal from two Games after she won three medals of different colours in Turin four years ago. It was the fourth gold overall for Wang, who is the most successful Chinese Winter Olympian ahead of the retired Yang Yang, who won two women's short-track titles in 2002 to become China's first-ever Olympic champion in any winter sport.
