Asia-Pacific weather
AP - 2 hours 53 minutes ago
A line of moisture will extend from southeast China through southern Japan on Monday and will result in the most active weather for eastern Asia.
The heaviest precipitation will fall in northern Vietnam and along the coast of southeast China. A low pressure system at the north end of the line of moisture will move northeastward out into the Pacific Ocean.
Most of Japan will escape much of the precipitation, but it would not be suprising to see some precipitation fall in Kyushu. Farther to the north, a strong low pressure system will move through the Sea of Japan and into the Sea of Ohkotsk.
This feature will strengthen considerably as the day progresses and will usher very cold air into the area. Cool rain showers are possible in northern Japan and Hokkaido, and snow showers are likely in northern China.
The Yellow Sea will remain dry, but cool air will dampen high temperatures in the area. Tokyo will rise into the mid-60s(F)/upper 10s(C), while Shanghai will see temperatures in the upper 60s(F)/lower 20s(C). Seoul will rise into the lower 50s(F)/lower 10s(C).
For Australia, a low pressure system in the southeastern portion of the country will provide showers to the Sydney area. These showers will gradually diminish moves away from the coast. A strong low pressure system will also approach Cape Leeuwin and provide rain late in the day.
Sydney will rise into the lower 80s(F)/upper 20s(C), while Melbourne will see temperatures in the upper 60s(F)/lower 20s(C). Brisbane will rise into the upper 70s(F)/mid-20s(C).
