CAPE TOWN |

CAPE TOWN (Reuters) - First lady Michelle Obama met media mogul and friend Oprah Winfrey on Tuesday evening in South Africa, a White House official said, as the two women were visiting the country at the same time.
Obama is in the middle of a week-long tour of South Africa and Botswana, her second official solo visit abroad as first lady. Winfrey was in South Africa for an event related to her school, the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls.
Kristina Schake, Obama's communications director, said the two women met at the first lady's hotel in Johannesburg and ate together. Tuesday was Obama's first full day in South Africa. She arrived on Monday night with her daughters and her mother.
Winfrey campaigned for President Barack Obama when he was a senator from Illinois running for the White House. She and the Obamas consider each other friends.
Mrs. Obama left Johannesburg on Wednesday for Cape Town. On Thursday she was to visit Robben Island, where former South African President Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for decades, but the trip was canceled because of choppy seas.

How convenient. How much is this playtime trip costing the American taxpayers?? Let’s see, and this is quoting the Chicago Tribune, it costs about a $1,000,000 to fly from Maryland to Hawaii. So, how much is it to fly to South Africa and back? Stand up America and VOTE these selfish greedy non-caring politicians out of office. Enough is enough. There’s enough money for EVERYONE to live a nice life and lifestyle. I know some families who would just like to be able to take their children to a ballgame or an amusement park, but they can’t because their under paid and over worked, and let us not forget the rising cost of living. If the US Gov’t. wasn’t so greedy and would stop robbing the businesses then the businesses would stop robbing the people and We the People might all get to enjoy a few more of the nicer things in life. VOTE the corrupted politicians out! And, unfortunately, that is 99% of them. “Whenever a man (or woman) casts a longing eye on an office a rottenness begins in their conduct.” How many slaps in the face can We the People allow?
