WASHINGTON (AFP) - - President Barack Obama will "likely" name Gary Locke, the first Chinese-American governor in US history as his pick for Commerce Secretary, a senior administration official said Monday.

Locke, former governor of Washington state, would be Obama's third selection for the post following the withdrawals of the two previous candidates, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and Republican Senator Judd Gregg.
