Chris Brown pleads not guilty in Rihanna abuse case
ADVERTISEMENT
LOS ANGELES - R&B star Chris Brown pleaded not guilty in a Los Angeles court on Monday to charges stemming from an alleged attack on his girlfriend, pop singer Rihanna. Brown, 19, entered the pleas during his arraignment in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Paul-and-Ringo duet thrills Beatles fans at benefit
NEW YORK - In terms of teasing musical foreplay, this was downright frustrating. During Paul McCartney's show-closing set for David Lynch's "Change Begins Within" concert at Radio City, an empty drum kit sat tantalizingly behind him. As the ex-Beatle delivered rousing versions of such hits as "Jet," "Lady Madonna" and "Let It Be," among others, the entire audience waited breathlessly in anticipation. When would Ringo Starr, who had just finished his own solo set, be joining him?
Budget-conscious Hollywood in grip of remake fever
LOS ANGELES - The impressive opening of "Fast & Furious" during the weekend not only proves there's gas in that franchise, it also gives fuel to Hollywood's obsession with movies based on, well, other movies. Studios have been remaking movies pretty much since they began making them, but during the past year and particularly the past few months, the remake machine has gone into overdrive.
Farrah Fawcett could leave hospital this week
LOS ANGELES - Actress Farrah Fawcett, who has battled cancer for nearly three years, is expected to return home this week after recovering in a Los Angeles hospital from a procedure in Germany, her doctor said on Monday. "She remains in good spirits with her usual sense of humor," said Dr. Lawrence Piro. "If everything goes as we hope, we plan to discharge her later in the week."
Two Crichton novels to be published posthumously
NEW YORK - Two novels by "Jurassic Park" author Michael Crichton, one finished by him before his death last year and the other to be completed based on his notes, will be published posthumously, his publisher said on Monday. Crichton, a doctor turned novelist and filmmaker whose books have sold more than 150 million copies worldwide, died of cancer last November at age 66.
Gossip writer out of job after "Wolverine" review
LOS ANGELES - Columnist Roger Friedman is out at FoxNews.com after reviewing an illegally downloaded copy of Fox's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" last week. Friedman, who wrote the Fox411 column for FoxNews.com, met with Fox News executives Monday. Following the meeting, the company issued a statement saying the parties had "mutually agreed to part ways immediately."

Actors union negotiators meet, deal report said premature
LOS ANGELES - Hollywood's largest acting union will hold a meeting of its negotiating task force on Tuesday although a spokeswoman said a report of a near deal with movie studios on a new contract was premature. The task force will meet at the Los Angeles headquarters of the Screen Actors Guild, the biggest U.S. actors' union with 120,000 members.
Bon Jovi documentary to rock Tribeca Film Festival
LOS ANGELES will screen what is described as a work-in-progress documentary about Jon Bon Jovi. The previously unknown picture, titled "When We Were Beautiful," follows the musician and his band on their 2008 Lost Highway world tour.
"Game" creator pitching makeover to save show
LOS ANGELES - "The Game": an hourlong comedy-drama? With the CW expected to complete its exit from the half-hour comedy genre at the end of this season, the creator/executive producer of one of the network's two remaining comedies, "The Game," is mulling turning it into an hourlong series. Mara Brock Akil is expected to pitch the idea to the CW brass this week.
