KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan President Hamid Karzai says a suicide bombing in western Afghanistan has killed five civilians and wounded more than 20 others.
Karzai says Mullah Rahmatullah Turkistani, the head of the provincial council, was among those wounded when a man blew himself up in a bazaar on Friday. Local authorities said Turkistani was the apparent target of the bombing.
Karzai called the bombing an "anti-Islamic" act, but said it would not halt the government's efforts to promote peace and stability in Afghanistan.
