SAN FRANCISCO - Merus Capital, the venture capital firm co-founded by Google Inc's <GOOG.O> former head of mergers and acquisitions, is preparing to raise a new $100 million fund, according to a limited partner of the fund. The firm, based in Palo Alto, California, is still investing in start-up companies out of its initial fund of roughly $40 million, but plans to raise a second fund in early to mid-2011, said the limited partner, who wished to remain anonymous.

TOKYO - Fujitsu Ltd <6702.T>, Japan's leading IT vendor, will invest more than $1.2 billion in cloud computing services next financial year, its president said Friday. Skype recovering, still down for 20 percent
NEW YORK - Internet calling service Skype said its system was still down for around 20 percent of users on the second day of its biggest outage in more than three years, although service was gradually recovering. NEW YORK/BANGALORE - Rovi Corp <ROVI.O> will pay $720 million in cash and stock to buy Sonic Solutions <SNIC.O>, which owns the popular digital video player software DivX, in a bid to broaden its footprint across the digital entertainment space. TomTom to increase staff, expects more car deals: paper
AMSTERDAM - Dutch navigation device maker TomTom <TOM2.AS> expects more deals with car producers and will increase its workforce by about 14 percent next year as it seeks market share in Asia, its chief executive told a Dutch paper. Expedia makes American Air fares harder to find
ATLANTA - Online travel agency Expedia Inc <EXPE.O> is making users take extra steps to get American Airlines listings after the U.S. airline stopped selling tickets through rival Orbitz Worldwide Inc <OWW.N> earlier this week. Viacom sells developer of Rock Band video games
LOS ANGELES - Viacom Inc <VIAb.N> has sold Harmonix Music Systems, the developer behind the Rock Band franchise, to the investment firm Columbus Nova and gained up to an estimated $200 million in the deal, ending a failed foray into the video game business. Analysts have long questioned the value of Rock Band for a company known more for cable networks MTV and Nickelodeon and film studio Paramount Pictures. Viacom said in November it was putting Harmonix up for sale.
