Portland, OR (AHN) - A student science project was destroyed by the bomb squad in Portland, OR, after officials received calls about a suspicious package with wires sticking out of it at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center on Southwest Capitol Highway.
The box had a note attached saying, "Do not touch" when it was found Saturday. The bomb squad was called in and promptly blew the box up. After blowing it up, authorities found out it was a student's science project.
And touchy seems to be the operative word in the Portland area.
Also on Saturday, officials were called about a suspicious package in the Woodburn area where they evacuated three houses before discovering the box contained packing peanuts.
On Friday, Banks Junior High School was evacuated after someone called authorities with a bomb threat threat there.
