Angelina Jolie defends daughter Shiloh's style
NEW YORK - It's never easy being a style trendsetter, opening yourself up for criticism from the world's fashionista. But for a four year-old, it might seem especially hard -- unless your mother is Angelina Jolie. Jolie, who is currently promoting her upcoming film "Salt," defended her daughter Shiloh's style choices over the weekend, calling them "fascinating" and saying she would not force any of her six children to be something they are not.
"Despicable Me" leads North American box office
LOS ANGELES - "Despicable Me," a new family cartoon featuring the voice of Steve Carell, easily took the top spot at the weekend box office in North America on Sunday, virtually assuring Universal Pictures of a lucrative franchise with its first foray into 3D animation. The film earned an estimated $60.1 million across the United States and Canada during the three days beginning Friday, the General Electric Co. unit said, doubling pre-opening forecasts.
Adrien Brody flexes muscles in "Predators"
LOS ANGELES - It has been 23 years since "Predator," a commando action film, sci-fi mash up starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, hit movie screens. Now it's back in a sequel, of a sort, called "Predators" that opens in movie theaters on Friday, but Arnold isn't. He's the California Governor, and in his place is Adrien Brody.
Britney Spears getting a "Glee"-full makeover
LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears is the latest mega pop star to be getting a "Glee"-full makeover. "We are writing a Britney Spears episode," Ryan Murphy, creator of the hit musical comedy TV show, told celebrity news show Entertainment Tonight.
"Scared" Lindsay Lohan plans to appeal jail term
LOS ANGELES - Lindsay Lohan is "scared to death" about going to jail, and is planning to appeal her 90-day sentence with a new lawyer, her mother Dina Lohan said in an interview. "She's a fighter, and until the final result -- we're not giving up," Dina Lohan told celebrity news television show Entertainment Tonight in an interview to be broadcast on Friday.

Pandora founder pursues bigger piece of radio pie
DENVER - During a recent taping of the Comedy Central show "The Colbert Report," host Stephen Colbert took Pandora founder Tim Westergren to task for the name of his Internet radio service. "Why Pandora?" Colbert asked, reminding him that Pandora's box from Greek mythology released evil into the world. "Is that what the Internet is? You click open the box and evil comes out your speakers?"
Lady Antebellum leads album sales for 1st-half 2010
LOS ANGELES - Country trio Lady Antebellum tops the midyear tally of album sales. The group's "Need You Now" is the year's biggest-selling album so far with 2.4 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures through the week ended July 4.
Charlie Sheen case delayed again
LOS ANGELES - Charlie Sheen's attempt to resolve charges of assaulting his wife ahead of taping for a new season of hit television comedy "Two and a Half Men" was dealt a setback on Friday when his planned court date was delayed three weeks. Officials in Aspen, Colorado said a planned July 12 hearing had been re-scheduled for August 2 at the request of Sheen's lawyers to allow more time for both sides to negotiate a plea bargain.
