Victoria, Australia (CNS) - Former "American Idol" runner-up Diana DeGarmo's stalker is sentenced to two years imprisonment after pleading guilty to four counts of cyberstalking.
Australian national Tanya Maree Quattrocchi, 23, pleaded guilty to hacking DeGarmo's MySpace account and hijacking her emails earlier this month. She has been sentenced to endure 26 months in jail, and will be eligible for parole for 12 months.
A county court in Victoria heard that Quattrocchi pretended to be a 14-year-old fan to join the singer and Broadway actress' MySpace fan club. She sent an email to DeGarmo's sister-in-law in November 2007 and made false allegations about the singer's sex life.
She had been arrested in January while she sitting at a computer and typing an email in which she pretended to be DeGarmo's mother.
It was also learned that Quattrocchi was already ordered to serve 150 hours of community service in 2007 for cyberstalking and blackmailing DeGarmo - who finished second to "AI" champ Fantasia Barrino in the show's third season - in 2006.
The new convictions are for her offenses since November 2007.
