ADVERTISEMENT The Karachi Stock Exchange's benchmark 100-share index <.KSE> ended 0.16 percent, or 11.52 points, lower at 7,276.61 on turnover of 156.6 million shares. The index made an intra-day high of 7,367.20 points. "Investors chose to offload their shares towards the end of the day due to the spate of recent bombings across the country," said Asad Iqbal, managing director at Ismail Iqbal Securities Ltd. Two bombs exploded in a market in Peshawar on Thursday, killing six people, and gunmen on rooftops ambushed police as they arrived at the scene, while there was another bomb attack in the northwest city of Dera Ismail Khan. [ID:nLS997666] The attacks came hours after the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for a suicide car-bomb and gun attack in the city of Lahore on Wednesday that killed 24 people, saying it was revenge for the Swat offensive. General insecurity and an army offensive against militants in the Swat region northwest of Islamabad, has worried the market over the past few weeks. In the currency market, the rupee ended weaker at 81.04/12 to the dollar compared with Thursday's close of 80.85/95. Dealers said they expected the rupee to weaken in coming days because of the economic slowdown.
