Conway, Arkansas, United States (AHN) - A motorcyclist who crashed his bike while fleeing Arkansas state troopers and local police at high speeds didn’t have to wait long for medical care.
Gregory Wallace, 22, led police on a high-speed chase down Interstate-40 and through a heavily congested area near Little Rock, until he crashed his Suzuki Hayabusa into an ambulance, whose crew was the first to treat him for his injuries.
The Arkansas State Police troopers began chasing Wallace after they observed him speeding down I-40. Troopers lost sight of him as he headed into the town of Conway.
Witness accounts differ on how fast Wallace was travelling through the streets of Conway, but he hit the front of the ambulance so hard that it bent the front subframe a few inches to the right.
Wallace was thrown through the air nto a nearby parking lot, where the crew of the ambulance he hit immediately began administering aid. He was flown to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
Police told local media that they did not know why Wallace tried so hard to outrun troopers and Conway police.
He had no outstanding warrants and his motorcycle was registered properly.
